The crocodile meal

The crocodile is a terrible predator; in the wildlife; it can stay weeks without eating. Its jaw is extremely powerful; its teeth help it to catch but not to cut. The crocodile swallows its preys by entire piece. The stomach will do the mastication work. The crocodile eats once a week, but is satisfied rapidly. It is a carnivore; it can eat: monkeys, zebras, antelopes but also fishes and birds.

Several times a week in summer, a feeding session is organised for a group of crocodiles. They are served raw chicken. The feeding is the occasion for an impressive gathering of crocodiles who come to take their ration, a mass gathering of crocodiles on the banks of the ponds close to the visitors, an unforgettable spectacle.

It is also a moment of rivalry and domination. But despite a life spent in a group, the fights are very rare.
